How you stack up as an American worker

This link comes from my favorite new source ZeroHedge. It is actually quite shocking but this article pulls data from the Social Security Administration.

Almost 40% of American workers earn less than $20,000 a year.
If you make more than $50,000 a year, you are in the top 30% of American workers.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I remember hearing the median income was $45,000 to $50,000 a year. The median income is skewed by the top earners.

  1. Yes. I think the situation is similar in the UK. There are a great many people hanging on in quiet desperation. They remain honest, work hard and never get anything for it. Sooner or later they will simply decide this is a game of fools, the result will be a radical shift to the left or to the right- but a radical shift in any case.

Thanks for the link by the way.

    1. Of course. As sad as this article is, I found some bright side that it doesn't take that much effort to be the in top 30, 40, or 50%.
